Outfit Post the Sixth

Last Thursday I went with a friend {and old roommate} of mine to a little party for a cute etsy company called The Apple Avenue. This shop has lots of cute stuff and it was fun to go look at all of it. I got myself this one except for with some cute little buttons/pearls on it. {I will wear it soon to show it off!} Anyway, I decided that I had to look cute to go look at such cute stuff so I wore a cute and comfy outfit. And here it is!

Breakdown:Shirt- from a friend, Calvin Klein I believe; Cardigan & Scarf & Purse- Old Navy; Belt- Charlotte Russe I think...; Jeans & Shoes- Target

Well, that's all for now! I'm headed off for the most wonderful weekend with my huzBAND {that's actually how I pronounce that word almost all of the time in case you were wondering...and I know you were}.
{P.S. I just reread this and realized I used the word cute way more times I should have. Oh well. I did look cute and I did go look at cute stuff and the etsy shop is super cute so I wasn't lying just lacking in the creativity with words department and too lazy to change it.}

Something I Love {Fourth Installment}

I absolutely love school supplies.
Notebooks, binders, agendas, folders, pens, pencils, ALL of it.
Going out and buying new school supplies each year helps me to get excited and ready for the new year.
This is my last year of college and I am honestly going to miss buying new, cute stuff each year.
I guess I'll just have to have some little chillens so that I can start buying them cute supplies in just a few years. :]

 Well, here are my supplies that I got this year:

Binder {on sale at Target}

Folders {Target}

Agenda {Target}

Aren't they cute?

I am so grateful for my education.
And so grateful that I am almost done!!

{Kinda Crafty} Future Tutorials?

I am THINKING about doing a couple of tutorials. Let me preface this by saying in the past I have not been a very crafty person. So, anything I may post on here will not be anywhere near perfect. I am learning and having a lot of fun and just thought I would share some of what I am learning with the blogging world. :]

Recently I have made lace slips to go under my skirts {to make them longer and more stylish}, hair flowers and fabric headbands. I was thinking about doing a couple tutorials on some of these things but wanted some helpful hints and tips before venturing into the land of tutorials. If anyone has any advice on how to do a good tutorial it would be greatly appreciated!

Also, here are some pictures of the things that I have been making:

The slips:

The hair accessories:

And finally, this is me in my cute headband enjoying a delicious fudgesicle. Mmm! Mmm! Good! I love summer treats!

Me & My Husband {Eighth Edition}

Filling out the fun questionnaire from this post.

Question 8: The little accessories: You know, veil? Shoes? Jewelry? What did your bridesmaids wear?

I loved all of the little accessories at my wedding. I did not have a veil but I did have the most gorgeous jewelry ever! It was made by Coreen Hennig, a lady and good friend from my home ward. I had not even thought about what jewelry to wear and she offered to make some for me. I came to her house two days before my wedding and she had made the most GORGEOUS pearl necklace and earrings. They honestly made me feel like such a princess. Whenever I wear them now they remind me of my wedding day and how special I felt. I am so grateful for Coreen and her sweet gift to me.

The Gorgeous Necklace:

The gorgeous earrings:

I knew that I wanted red shoes for my wedding {red is my favorite color} but I could not decide between heels and flats. I found a pair of red flats at Charlotte Russe that I liked but wasn't sure if they were fancy enough for a wedding. They were $8 though so I knew that I couldn't pass them up. I headed down to the valley to go shoe shopping at the mall and I looked for hours for some cute red heels. I didn't find anything that I liked {My little sister Gelsey came shopping with me and she couldn't believe how picky I was being}. I finally gave up and "settled" for my cute $8 red shoes. I am so grateful that I did though because they were so comfortable, I wear them lots now, and they photographed BEAUTIFULLY! And I like bragging that I got my wedding shoes for such a good deal. :] I got so many compliments on my cute red shoes and I love them so much!

I already talked about what my bridesmaids wore so I won't really do that again in this post. I'll just put another picture up and say that I have the cutest, most stylish sisters/sister-in-laws ever!

Finally, I wanted to talk about my hair. I had it done by Alisha Jacobson De Kruyf. We grew up in the same ward and she was willing to get up ridiculously early in the morning to do my hair before I headed over to the temple for pictures. She was so sweet and I loved how my hair turned out! I'm pretty sure the only direction I gave her was that I wanted it to the side and curly. She made it look so good and I love it in every single picture! It makes me want to learn how to do hair so that I can do people's hair for their weddings. {I actually did do my sister-in-law/best friend Jasmine's hair for her wedding day. I liked it--but I am not a professional and just got lucky! :]}

Me & My Husband {Sixth Edition}

Continuing from this post.

Question 6: The colors: Show some of the flower and colors you used.

The inspiration for my colors came from some shoes I saw at Target. Also, red has been my favorite color for years and before it was red it was yellow. So that worked out well. Here are the shoes:

And here are some pictures of my flowers, Race's boutonniere and some of the cute reception decorations that my mom made. Also, I had my bridesmaids pick out their own outfits in the colors I chose and they did an awesome job and all looked so dang good so I'll put up pictures of them too! {My mom found paint swatches* that were the same as the shoes and gave those out to people trying to dress in our color scheme. The paint swatches were nice because they showed colors that were not exactly the colors we were going for but they were colors that looked good with our main colors.}

In this picture you can see Race's boutonniere:
The next few are pictures of my gorgeous bouquet made by Shelley Winters in my home ward. She made the bouquets at my reception as well.
Below are my gorgeous $8 red wedding shoes. {Charlotte Russe}
This is a flower outside the temple that matched our colors perfectly. :]
The following pictures are of my bridesmaids and their super cute outfits/shoes. {My mom made my youngest sister's cute dress}

The rest of the pictures are from my wedding reception. My mom and aunts made all of the decorations and it looked AMAZING! I was not a big part of my wedding decorations at all because I wanted it super laid back {we had it in my front yard}. My mom went above and beyond with everything and I was so impressed! I am so grateful for all the hard work that she did and I am still trying to find a way to repay her for it!
Amy Gregson made the gorgeous HUGE cupcake for Race and I and all of the cute little cupcakes for our guests. They were DELICIOUS!
More table decorations and gorgeous flowers by Shelley Winters.

Mmm...look at those cupcakes!

*These are what I meant by paint swatches--I'm still not sure if that's the right word--my mom just went to Home Depot and grabbed a few of these to hand out. I highly suggest doing this if you have people trying to find your wedding colors to dress up in.

Biking Through Flagstaff

Last weekend Race, his sister Teal, his cousin Ellie and I went on a gorgeous bike ride. I had never gone on the urban trails they have all throughout Flagstaff so it was really fun for me to explore a whole part of Flagstaff that I never even knew existed. We biked for a couple of hours and enjoyed each others company, the beautiful weather and the breathtaking views. We will be doing this a lot more regularly now. :) Except I need to get a more comfortable bike seat before I spend that much time on my bike ever again. Here are some pictures from our day. The lighting wasn't great so you guys don't get to see quite how gorgeous it was.

This last one is of Race being my personal Vanilla Coke advertisement. :) {Race does this pose for pretty much every picture--especially when he's holding a drink.}

Me & My Husband {Fourth Edition}

Continuing from this post

Question 4: The ring--Tell us about it! Did you pick it out? Did he? Pictures! Tell us about his ring too!

Race and I went ring shopping pretty early on in our relationship. {Someone saw us ring shopping and spread the word around the institute--that was a fun one to try and explain away. Haha.} I knew pretty much what style I wanted and we found it right away. It just happened to be on sale! The ring and the band were on sale for the price of just the ring. The sale ended before we were planning on getting engaged so I told Race that I was totally fine with just the ring. I had never really thought about getting a band and didn't care either way. I came to find out later that Race bought the ring and band while they were on sale and had been showing them off to his family for a while before he actually proposed to me! {Sidenote: We just recently got the my rings soldered together and I LOVE having my wedding band as well as my pretty engagement ring}

Here are some pictures of my gorgeous ring:

 This is from the first day I ever wore the gorgeous ring! I was in awe and I still can't stop staring at it.
We found Race's ring online for a really good deal. Race loved the simple, sleek look of this ring and we both loved the color. I was so glad that Race loved the smooth look rather than the new, edgy looks of men's wedding bands. He loves his ring to this day but his fingers have been losing some weight so we'll be buying him a smaller ring pretty soon.

{Kinda Crafty} Part Four

Click here to view this photo book larger

I had a gift-card to Shutterfly.com so I made this cute little photo book to have on our coffee table. I don't really know if this counts as being crafty since I left it pretty plain. But I love looking at it and I love showing it off to people. My mom even borrowed it for a couple of weeks to take to some of our family reunions to show off to people. :] It was so fun and easy to make and now I am working on one for my Grandma and Grandpa Olmstead's 50th Wedding Anniversary. I can't wait to show that one off too!
