We Moved.

We moved for the seventh time in our four years of marriage last month {August 10th}. You would think that we would be pros at the whole moving thing by now but we're not. It's stressful and crazy every. single. time. This was our smoothest move to date though! We had family, friends, and soooo many people from both our old ward and our new ward come to help us load and unload all of our stuff. We felt so blessed to have so much help!

Over the last month I've gotten everything unpacked and have kind of started decorating things. It's a work in progress of course but this is the fastest I've ever unpacked before so I'm feeling pretty good! It usually takes me a good six months to get the final few boxes unpacked and then another six months to a year to get the house decorated. This time I was unpacked in under a month and we're about halfway done with decorating. Woot! Woot!  I guess it has helped that I'm not pregnant/have a brand new baby {We moved two times while I was pregnant with Holland and then again less than a month after her birth--ridiculous!}. I just wanted to post a few pictures of our new place. It's nothing fancy but we are really loving our new apartment and making it feel like home!

I have a couple more decorating projects I want to get done but I am trying to make a trip down to IKEA first so it might be a while before things are finished. I'll post more pictures whenever that actually happens though!

In the girls' room. {Pallet bookshelves made by Patrick and Tyne}

Living room. {Cubbies made by Race, banner from Nikki}

Kitchen {ASHBY est. 2010 sign made by Amy Gregson of My 3 Monsters, whiteboard from IKEA years ago, chalkboard from a friend's wedding, tin buckets from Target}.

Aprons made by my mom, aunt, and grandma. {We LOVE these aprons for art projects and eating and just wearing around the house!}

I spent a good hour+ decorating our fridge with contact paper one of the first nights after we moved in. Race got a good laugh out of the fact that I got so distracted by this pretty, but definitely not top priority, project. He was super nice about it and helped me finish it up and I love it! I'm thinking of switching it out for some chalkboard contact paper but we shall see. I'm enjoying the bright green! {Crate from Michael's, white basket from Target $1 section, contact paper from WalMart}

We only have two drawers in our whole kitchen {ridiculous!} so these
little containers are our new "junk drawers"!

Change

I haven't  been blogging much lately but I thought I had better get caught up on what has been going on in our lives lately. {And I finally have time. No job and I'm back from Oregon! My only focus right now is growing a baby!} Life has been pretty crazy and doesn't seem to want to slow down at all. So, I'd better get used to it before I have a baby and things get CRAZIER! I also wanted to document these last few months before the baby comes because it will be fun to look back and remember what we were going through. {It's also funny to think that Race and I were pretty convinced that right now would be the PERFECT time to have a baby. We would be graduated and officially 'real adults' so everything would just fall into place. Now we've realized that there may never be a perfect time to have a baby. Life is always going to be crazy. But we have learned that there is a right time to have a baby and this was the time for us. We are so excited our little one is on her way!}

Everyone has heard the saying about change being the only constant thing in life. This little saying has been going through my head A LOT in the past few months.  It feels like every time Race and I try to make plans everything changes and we have to readjust to something new.

I won't go through ALL the different plan changes we've been through in the past months but just know that we have almost moved into quite a few different apartments in quite a few different places. We actually have moved out of our on campus housing in Flagstaff and into a new place and then out of that apartment down to the valley {AZ}. We are living with my parents for a few months while we figure things out to avoid signing a lease and then having to break it if things change again. But that just means that we will be moving again within the next few months.

Race has almost gotten multiple jobs and we start planning for them and then things fall through. He has a job now but did not get the schedule he was told he would be able to get which has thrown a wrench in our plans.  We have been told that jobs will be created for Race to apply for and then people have not followed through.

We have changed doctors multiple times. The most recent being this last week. I'm really hoping that we will be staying with this doctor through the rest of my pregnancy but I really don't know at this point.

In the last few months there have been a lot of prayers, lots of hopes and dreams, a few disappointments, and many tears {on my part--I am learning that I don't deal with change very well}. We are grateful for all that we have and we really are not complaining about our life. We love that we are closer to our families than we were before, we are grateful that Race has a job, and we are excited to meet our little girl in just a few weeks! We are not enjoying the heat of the valley but we will survive with lots of trips to Bahama Bucks! We are on the lookout for a better job for Race and for a more permanent housing solution once we figure out where we are going to be long-term. We are hoping that Race can get his shift changed to the one he wanted but for now we are just going to enjoy this time that we have together.

So, that's where were at about six weeks and one day before we are due to meet our sweet baby girl. Life is exciting, super hot, and constantly changing! We'll figure things out with lots more prayer, faith, and the love and support of our families and friends.

Race's first time at Bahama Bucks.
{He's in love with it!}

Moving some stuff into our storage unit.
{U-Haul storage places are very aesthetically pleasing. Haha.}

Crazy Life

Life has been pretty crazy over on our end ever since graduation. And I still haven't even posted about graduation! I'll put a couple of pictures in here and do a quick update but real updates are going to have to wait for a bit! Right now Race and I are in the middle of moving down to Chandler, AZ because Race got a job! We are excited that he has a job but we are not excited to be leaving beautiful Flagstaff. Hopefully someday we can move back because we really love Flagstaff. Moving is crazy because as we move out our cousins are moving into our place which means our little apartment is a mess right now. Since I am super pregnant I won't be able to help with much of the actual moving so after we finish packing I actually get to go to Oregon with my family for a couple of weeks while Race and my brothers move us into our new apartment. When I get back we will unpack and try to get our life organized before our little lady makes her arrival. The next couple of months are going to be quite hectic! I am excited though! I'm super excited to go to Oregon to see all of my family because I am not sure when I will be able to visit everyone after the baby comes. Also, I love Oregon. I grew up there and last summer Race was able to come to Oregon with me and it was a wonderful trip. It's actually the trip that got me started on blogging {again-ish}. You can check out posts about my last Oregon trip here. Anyway, I'm excited to spend time with family and not have to stress about moving just yet. I'll update about the Oregon trip and hopefully have lots of good pictures. Race and I spent last weekend at a photography workshop by Jessica Downey {Our awesome engagement and wedding photographer} and finally learned how to use our fancy DSLR. So I am going to take it to Oregon and try to get some practicing in so that when our baby comes I can take lots of cute pictures of her!

Well, that's about all for now! Here are some pictures of graduation and some pictures Race and I took at the photography workshop last weekend--enjoy!!

Moving Day!

Yesterday was moving day and I wrote up a whole post about it but it disappeared. Race and I changed apartments in our town because we we're going to get kicked out of our on campus apartment after graduation. I know graduation isn't for a couple more months but we wanted to move before then so that I would be able to help a little bit more. And an added bonus of moving now was that we got a really good deal on our new, much more spacious apartment! Anyway, now on to how the move went!

Race's parents came and helped us move everything. Which really meant Race and his dad worked their butts off all day while I worked on unpacking, helped as much as I could before I was too tired {which was not very much helping at all} and Race's mom SUPER cleaned our old apartment so that we can pass the "cleaning inspection" with flying colors! Race's parents also helped us furnish our new place with a beautiful carpet, table and chairs, lots of food, and so much more! We were so grateful to have them up here to help us with this move. We were also grateful to our ward members and neighbors who saw us moving and offered to help. It is so nice to be surrounded by such good people. I hope we have some cool neighbors at our new apartment!

The rest of the week will be spent unpacking, organizing, working {just a little bit since it's Spring Break}, finding out the gender of our baby {Thursday!!} and celebrating Race's birthday with some family coming to town {Saturday}! It should make for a fun, busy Spring Break!

Well, I am going to make this post quick. {I just felt Little Goose move! For some reason I have to tell someone every time I feel LG move but right now I'm working and there is no one else here.} I'll leave you with a couple pictures of our new place and some baby bump pics!

New kitchen with a full size stove/oven and a dishwasher!

Beautiful Things

I'm playing catch up again. But I'll still keep it short and to the point.

1.I am grateful for the color red. I don't know why but red things just make me very happy.

2. This one also relates to the picture above. I love these flowers! They are red gerbera daisies and I love them more than roses by a long shot. And also isn't that vase with red ribbon cute? I think so. :) And the red ribbon was all me!

3. Service. The other night I got off of a long night at work and Race wasn't home from cleaning yet so I made dinner (this doesn't happen very often). Meanwhile Race was out "cleaning" when actually he was running to the store to get me these beautiful flowers. Isn't he sweet?! It is hard to learn to put each other first in our marriage especially when we are both so busy and tired all the time but I think we got it right this night! :)

5. I am grateful for pictures! This is our super cute picture wall at our house. It's not completely finished but it will be soon. We have a couple cute quotes to put in the last two frames. But I love our picture wall. Eventually we will switch out some of our wedding/engagement pictures for pictures of our families but we don't have much to choose from right now.

6. The final thing I am grateful for today is SPACE. We have sooo much space in our home now and it is such a nice change. I'll show you two pictures. First the one of our old apartment and it's messiness and tinyness and then one of our new super spacey apartment.

Moving Out!

So, I know it's been a really long time, but if Emma's not going to write it, I am: WE'RE MOVING!!
Ever since we got married, (two months ago), we've been living in the world's SMALLEST apartment. This place has really been home for us. We like to joke about how you can reach the remote from anywhere in the apartment. Really... almost literally... anywhere in the apartment.
So, we've loved it, but we were recently accepted into on-campus family housing. We were really excited about that phone call.
My other exciting news is that I quit Coldstone! The pay and opportunities for advancement were not at all ideal, but I'd be lying if I didn't say that the real reason I quit was because the boss is a complete bone-head. And maybe because growing up has been on my to-do list for a while.
So, I'm working on campus now, and we're going to be living on campus as well. I'm thinking that after this semester, we're really going to be calling NAU home...
The best part about moving out was probably how it took about five minutes to find someone to take over our lease. Craigslist is among the more awesome inventions known to man. We've been working on moving out ever since. We'll definitely be working harder on updating the blog.
