Valentine's Day 

Race's Birthday!

I love birthdays! Race's was this last Sunday {St. Patrick's Day} and we had a fun little celebration with friends and family. I also got to surprise Race with the gift that he had been telling me he wanted for the past oh, four months! He brought it up about a billion times the week before his birthday and I had him convinced that I had decided it wasn't worth the money so I just got him other stuff for his birthday! I had actually ordered the present {a fancy leather jacket} online but I didn't think it would make it here in time for his birthday. So I wrapped a shirt from Target in a box with a picture of the leather jacket underneath the shirt and a note that I had ordered it BEFORE he started bringing it up this week to say he wanted it. After I had wrapped the shirt the jacket actually got here in time for his birthday so I got to wrap it as well! I made sure to have him open the shirt from Target first. His first surprise was that I had already ordered the jacket! He was talking about how cool the jacket was and telling everyone why it was such an exciting gift and then I had him open the jacket and he was super surprised! Aaand I got a video of it. Maybe it's not cool to anyone other than me but here it is anyway!



Happy Happy Birthday to my favorite person in the world! I'm glad I could make your dreams come true! You are the best husband and father and I am so grateful for all that you do! I love you Race Husbandface!

Dressing 'Le Bump' {#4} Plus a Story About the Little Miss

So recently someone said that they think I'm going to run out of cute outfits to dress up my bump. I really hope that doesn't happen anytime soon because I'm loving dressing my little lady up! We'll see how well that works when I'm further along though! So far I can still wear all my jeans {some unbuttoned some still buttoned} and most of my bigger shirts. So we'll see how much longer I can make all of that last!

I got this shirt on SUPER clearance from Shade and it's a bit big right now so I pulled it down and made it into almost a dress. Haha. It is SUPER comfy though and that's all that's important, right? I also got a peach colored shirt and some black pants that I'm going to skinny up before I wear them but they are SO comfortable and they were a good deal! Yay for cheap and comfy maternity clothes! 

Okay, are you ready for the story about the Little Miss? 

I already posted this on Facebook but I figured my blog friends needed the fun, extended version. 

So last night around 3 in the morning I got up to go to the bathroom {I go to the bathroom about three times every night}. After going to the bathroom I headed back to bed and was lying on my side with my arm around my belly. All of a sudden Little Goose started squirming like crazy. Kicking and wiggling around like she was trying to get comfortable. She did this for about ten minutes and then I decided to see if she would respond to me pressing my hand up against where she was kicking. She did! So we played around with that for about ten minutes when I decided to see if she would respond to a flashlight on my belly. I put the light up against my belly and she hit it EIGHT times in a row! It was awesome! Then I moved it around some more and she would try to follow the light and hit it. It was SO cool! She has done most of these things before but last night we really just hung out doing all of this for a good thirty to forty-five minutes and it was so much fun. She is such a wiggle worm all the time but this was the most responsive she's ever been. I love to feel her move and I can't wait to meet her in about fifteen more weeks! 

Anyway, that's the story for the day! It was tons of fun! Now I'm going to enjoy the rest of my Saturday reading on our porch and hanging out with Race and Little Goose! Happy Weekend everyone! What are YOU up to? 

Oh Christmas Tree! {Two Years}

I wasn't into blogging much at all last year so I didn't post pictures of our Christmas tree. So I figured I would put some of those up before putting up pictures of this year's tree!

I LOVE this time of year! :]

And I love our new camera! I am still not very good at taking pictures but Race is having tons of fun with it! {It was more for him than anything!} 

We have a couple of traditions for decorating our tree {and I know you all want to hear all about them so here goes!}:

1. We buy/make one new ornament per year. 

2. We always put the star on last. 

3. We always listen to Christmas music on the record player. 

&

4. We always take lots of pictures!

Wonderful Weekend

I mentioned in this post that the weekend was really long and exhausting. And it was! Thank goodness it wasn't long and exhausting because of homework and studying though! {In case anyone is wondering: I have two of four midterms done. I've finished the two  hardest ones. Thank goodness!} This weekend was spent staying up late with Race's family on Friday night. We hung out, talked, ate yummy food, and I got to play with cute baby Madison. It was a blast!

Saturday morning I headed out the door at 10 am to head down to the valley to help my sister get ready for Homecoming. Right when I got there we headed out the door to go shoe and jewelry shopping for the next FOUR HOURS! Luckily, we stopped and ate some Rubio's. I LOVE Rubio's. Then we headed home and started getting Helena all ready for the dance. We started with her nails, then I did her make-up and then her hair. Thank goodness a couple of my sisters-in-law were over to help me out and tell me if things looked awful because I have NEVER done make-up on anyone before. I haven't even done it on myself. So I really hope that Helena liked all of  it. I think that she looked absolutely gorgeous and I was so glad to be there for her. Especially since my mom was out of town. At 5:30 Helena headed off to the dance with her date. They looked so cute together and he was SO NERVOUS! It reminded me of going to dances soooo long ago. ;] After sending the cute couple off to the dance I hung out with my family for a little bit, took a nap, and then drove back up to Flagstaff while listening to General Conference talks {See last post}. It was a really long, really good day.

Sunday was spent going to Sacrament Meeting which was...interesting. We had a man there wearing an American flag church shirt and just doing things a little bit out of the normal. Like singing loudly and changing the words some. And when Race went to the bathroom the man was in there talking {once again very loudly} all about how America has lost its values and stuff like that. It was weird to say the least. Another funny story from Sacrament Meeting: I asked Race to grab the hymnbook that was under his seat so he reached down to grab it and smacked his head on the chair in front of him. So he gave up on that. So I decided that I would grab it for him and then I smacked my head! It was super funny! So we laughed through the whole first hymn. Luckily, someone handed us a book so that we could at least attempt to sing along. Haha.

After Sacrament Meeting we headed home because Race was {and still is :( } feeling sick. We took a nice long nap together and then hung out with family for the rest of the evening. And once again had some delicious food {made by my sister-in-law Teal}. It was the perfect Sunday and it was relaxing which was just what I needed after Saturday. After our family left we watched some of The Cosby Show and then headed to bed.

This morning I woke up refreshed and super happy. I read my scriptures {It's my goal to read my scriptures every day}, cuddled with Race, looked for my keys, said a prayer, found my keys literally thirty seconds later {in a super weird place}, and then got dressed up all cute for class, and headed out the door. Now I'm at work taking on some extra hours and enjoying my day. Later we are going to carve pumpkins {hopefully with some friends} and then we'll be continuing on with the rest of this hopefully-not-too-long-and-exhausting week.

Last night we carved pumpkins with some friends! So I'll post about that soon! We kinda made it a competition but didn't have judges so maybe I'll have you all judge the pumpkins for us! Good idea, eh?

Last Summer Weekend

School starts on Monday and I am so not ready. I bought some supplies a few weeks ago but I haven't gotten books, I don't have paper or pens or pencils, and I can't even remember what my class schedule is. I will look it up tomorrow and figure out where all my classes are. Luckily though Race and I will be spending one week in school and then we will be heading to Lake Powell for our anniversary weekend! And all of you will be lucky to have three guest posters on my blog! They will be my first ever guest posters so GET EXCITED!! :]

Anyway, this weekend Race and I headed down to his parents' house with his sister and cousin. It's been a wonderful, relaxing weekend. We got to his parents' house around 10 PM last night and stayed up chatting and then today we headed out to Lake Patagonia. We spent the day in the sun swimming, tanning, kayaking, reading, talking, and eating. It was a nice day {just a little hot} and I loved hanging out with Race's family and relaxing. It has been the perfect way to end the summer.

On the way back to his parents' house we stopped at a restaraunt called Velvet Elvis Pizza Company and had DELICIOUS pizza. We got one called Chicken Saltimbocca which had Herbed Cheese, White Sauce, Roasted Chicken, Prosciutto di Parma, Sun-dried Tomatoes, Fresh Basil, Gorgonzola, Asiago, and Mozzarella. How amazing does that sound?! It was super delicious and we downed it super fast.

Anyway, that was our wonderful day and we will be heading home sometime tomorrow. However we will be stopping to see more family in the valley. And then we have to get everything ready for the first day of school. I will be setting out first-day-of-school outfits Sunday night and we will be taking pictures Monday morning. We will look cute. :] It is our last day of college...at least for our Bachelor's degrees. So that's exciting!

Apparently I also got sunburned. I didn't even notice it but then RaceFace pointed it out. And then he so nicely slathered me up with Aloe Vera. Good stuff. :)

Me & My Husband {Eleventh Edition}

Question 11: Your song and/or the first song you danced to at your wedding: share a music video or lyrics if you can!

Race is super into music and had quite a few songs that reminded him of me. We chose one of those songs for our dance but honestly we didn't even end up having our "first dance" until our reception after all of the guests were gone. I think our true first dance was in our itty bitty first kitchen {it was really a hallway with a tiny sink and stove} while I was trying to cook Race dinner and getting frustrated. He pulled me away from everything and danced with me to no music. It was romantic and one of my favorite memories of being married. Mmm I love that boy! Anyway, the song we chose to dance to at our wedding was "If My Heart Was a House" by Owl City. 

Other songs we considered {some jokingly, most seriously} were:

I am sure that there were others that I just can't think of anymore. I love dancing with my husband though. And I love when he sings cute songs to me. :] Random side note: At Race's family reunions every year they have an awesome dance with square dancing and the two step and other cool dances like that. Last year while we were engaged we went to this and it was our first dance together and apparently someone asked Race's mom where we learned to dance. I guess they were impressed with our skills that I didn't even know we had. Well, more that Race has. Anyway, I felt really cool after that. And now I want Race to take dance classes with me somewhere. It'd be lots of fun! 

Now I'm listening to our wedding reception playlist. Good stuff. :]
